The following story is an old Jewish story about a man who is allowed to see both heaven, and hell.
I couldn’t find the original story itself, but this is how I remember it…
Story
A man is allowed to see both heaven, and hell.
He decides to visit hell first.
As he enters hell he is welcomed by a beautiful blue sky. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and it feels like spring. He sees a path which leads to a golden gate. Once through the gate he sees a table that goes as far to the left, and right as the eye can see. The tables are stacked with delicious food. There are people sitting at the table holding cutlery, but their elbows are locked (unable to bend), so they can’t get to the food. There is a lot of yelling and cursing.
He then decides to visit heaven.
Exactly the same thing; beautiful blue sky, sun shining, birds are chirping, and it feels like spring. The path leading to the golden gate. Table as far to the left, as to the right with delicious food on it. People with cutlery, also unable to bend their elbows. There is no yelling, and cursing however. In fact, people are happy, smiling, and chatting with each other.
They had figured out that in order to eat they needed to help each other.
Conclusion
Heaven on Earth is not a myth – it has been right in front of us all along.
Have a look around, and see what difference you can make today.
